Åre (pronounced "Or-eh") is Sweden's most iconic ski destination and one of the great mountain towns of Northern Europe. Åre is served by Östersund Airport (OSD), approximately 100 km away, with direct flights from Stockholm and other Scandinavian cities. By train, the Åre station sits right in the village centre, connected to Stockholm via Östersund — a scenic journey of around 6 hours.
