Why Sälen
Everyone in the group skis. Nobody sits it out.
Sälen is not one resort but four on the same pass: Lindvallen, Högfjället, Tandådalen and Hundfjället. Everything sits below the tree line, which means calm wind and something to look at on days that would close a higher mountain – and a beginner and a good skier can start the morning from the same door.
Lindvallen and Högfjället are linked, Tandådalen and Hundfjället share their own mountain, and the ski bus runs between all four.
Scandinavian Mountains Airport lands you 10–25 minutes from any of the four areas, with direct flights from Copenhagen in season.

Where to stay
Cabins first. Then apartments and ski-in lodges.
The cabin is the Sälen classic – sauna, room for two families, parking at the door. If you would rather not cook, the lodges and hotels sit right at the lifts.

Ten minutes from the airport. Three hours from Gardermoen.
Scandinavian Mountains Airport is 10–25 minutes from the four areas. By car it is about 3 hours from Gardermoen, 3.5 from Oslo, 5 from Stockholm and 6 from Gothenburg.
