Getting to Sälen

Ten minutes from the airport to the lifts. Nowhere else in Scandinavia is the transfer this short.

Book your flight. We do the rest. We are here, on the mountain — transfer, keys, lift pass and the answer to whatever comes up at four o'clock on a Saturday afternoon.

The seasonal airport

Scandinavian Mountains sits between Sälen and Trysil and opens only for the ski season. It is the shortest transfer in Scandinavia — and a small airport with two British departures a week. Oslo Gardermoen carries many times the capacity, from across Europe, every day of the year.

Operator From Day Season
easyJet London Gatwick Saturdays 12 Dec 2026 – 13 Mar 2027
easyJet Manchester Saturdays 19 Dec 2026 – 13 Mar 2027
Crystal Ski London Gatwick Sundays 20 Dec 2026 – 11 Apr 2027
Ski Scandinavia London Gatwick Sundays, selected 14 Feb – 4 Apr 2027
SAS London Heathrow Sundays, 2 dates 14 and 21 Feb 2027

easyJet sells the seat only — which is where we come in. Crystal Ski and Ski Scandinavia sell a package.

Get a price for the last leg

Tell us when your flight lands and we will send you straight to the people who sell it, with your time already filled in. We do not resell transport — you book it where it is cheapest, and we make sure you are looking at the right departure.

Aim to land by 13:00. The transfer is only ten to twenty-five minutes, so the flight itself is the whole journey. The constraint is that Sälen Buss is pre-booked to a specific flight — book it when you book the seat, not on the day.

The easyJet flights from Gatwick and Manchester land at Scandinavian Mountains around the middle of the day, which is the whole point of them — you are on the snow the same afternoon. Coming through Oslo instead, aim for a morning departure.

Snälltåget opens the winter Sälen train for sale in the autumn and the cheap seats go first. Book the train before you book anything else.

Airport transfer

Sälen Buss runs shared transfers to the lodging check-in stations and private transfers direct to the door. Pre-booking is required — the airport states plainly that taxis are limited and there is no public transport. Bookings for the 2026/27 season open in October 2026.

Transfer times from the airport: Hundfjället and Tandådalen 10 min, Stöten 18 min, Högfjället 20 min, Lindvallen 25 min, Kläppen 45 min.

Not sure which to take?

Send us your flight and we will tell you what we would do ourselves — including when the answer is the train and not a car. We book the accommodation; the transport you book direct, and you keep the difference.

By train

Sälen has no railway station. Snälltåget runs a direct Sälen service on Saturdays from 19 December 2026 to 10 April 2027 , leaving Malmö in the morning and reaching Mora early afternoon, with a connecting bus to Lindvallen, Högfjällshotellet, Tandådalstorget, Hundfjällstorget and Stöten. It calls at Lund, Hässleholm, Alvesta, Nässjö, Linköping, Stockholm and Uppsala, and on selected weeks runs via Helsingborg, Halmstad and Gothenburg instead. Skis are 149 SEK per item.

Parking

25 SEK an hour between 09:00 and 16:00, free outside those hours, and about half the spaces are free at any time. Pay through the Aimo app, by SMS or at the machines at Experiumtorget, Gustavtorget Övre, Tandådalstorget and Hundfjällstorget. Parking at the airport itself is free for the length of your trip, with covered 22 kW EV charging.

Getting around once you are here

The SkiStar Bus is free with a valid lift pass and runs daily between the ski areas and from the accommodation to the slopes.

The best weeks are the last ones

March and the first half of April are the finest skiing of the year up here. The days are long, the sun is on the slopes instead of behind the trees, the snow base is at its deepest after a full winter of cold, and the queues from February half-term have gone home.

It is also when the ski charters stop. The seasonal flights into Scandinavian Mountains end on 13 March. Oslo Gardermoen runs all year, from every major European city — so the best weeks of the season are reached the same way you would reach Oslo on any other weekend.

Build the trip you want

Sälen and Trysil share an airport forty minutes apart, so one week can cover both a Swedish and a Norwegian mountain.

Trysil
40 min from the same airport
Kläppen
45 min from the airport

A charter sells you one resort, one week, one flight home. Flying into a real airport means you can split the week, add two nights in a city, or ski two mountains and let us move you between them. Tell us what you want the week to look like and we will put it together.

Arrival days

Saturday arrival at both Hundfjället and Lindvallen lodges, several properties also on Friday. Sunday is the main changeover day. Hotel rooms can be booked for any day.
